I moved into a house with a one of these locks. The lock is registered to a previous owner from 15 years ago - no way to contact them and there have been a number of owners between.
I can’t add the device to the app without the account owner approving - but can’t contact them.
So I have had to do a reset and change it in stand alone mode so I can secure the house.
But can’t use the app. But the most recent owner (not the account holder) was using the app - so there must be a way! But support have basically said they can’t do anything. I can’t be the only person who has faced this issue!!! Help
I’d be surprised if it was a U-tec lock if it’s 15 years old. The U-tec website didn’t really exist until 2015, and as I understand it, the U-tec company was founded in 2015, so the oldest U-tec locks are probably about 10 years old.
Nevertheless, assuming it’s a U-tec lock, you have a legitimate problem, and I’m keen to understand how U-tec will solve it for you. Specifically, I’d like to know if someone else might be able to trick U-tec into wiping my account by claiming they have the same problem.
I don’t expect them to make it easy or perhaps even possible due to the risk of some bad actor doing the same thing … but, let’s assume it’s 10 years old, you’ve still got an old lock with the support issues et all, so it might be less trouble to shop a new one that has a warranty and software updates, etc… either way, best of luck…
Hi, def a u-tec lock - the app finds the lock but can’t log in without the admin code.
Support have only been able to provide instructions on how to manually reset and change the code - so we can use the lock but can’t connect to the app.
Agree there needs to be safeguards for owners so no one can override but also for new owners where admin code isn’t handed over.
The last owners (not the account owner) were using the app so must be a work around. But sadly support have wiped their hands. My only option is to buy a new lock and wouldn’t use this company due to poor support.
Hi, I got a message out of the blue saying there was no longer an account attached to the lock so there were steps I could take to register it under my account. Tbh I think just make a fuss on here and they respond.
