I’ve completely given up on U-Tec due to this issue. I have the U-Bolt Pro WiFi model, NO BRIDGE).
I’ve worked with U-Tec support for months on this issue. I’ve been through THREE locks. All with consistent symptoms, i.e. auto unlock fails to unlock when I approach the door even though I’m CONSISTENTLY getting the Geo Fencing notifications both leaving and arriving home. Assuring that no other bluetooth devices are connected DOES NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE (and nor should it. That’s not how Bluetooth LE works).
I’ve even been through two different iPhones and multiple iOS releases along the way. Nothing changes. Auto unlock works perhaps 1 out of 50 times!
The latest update from u-Tec is they admit something’s been broken and they’ll release new firmware to “fix” the issue. I’m waiting six weeks now for that update.
So after being a customer all the way back from their original Indiegogo campaign in 2019. I’ve given up on them. Completely breaking my original U-Bolt Pro with the firmware update that disabled the fingerprint reader for me and many other customers earlier this year started their downfall.
I’ve now switched to the Aqara U100. It supports native Homekit with Homekey NFC out of the box. It also includes a built-in fingerprint reader. So essentially, it combines all the features of the two newly announced but not yet released U-Tec models in one. It does not have WiFi built-in but with native Homekit it’s not really needed. You can add their Zigbee hub to attach to WiFi and get some enhanced features (e.g. Alexa). It does not provide direct support for Auto Unlock. But with Homekit support and other homekit plugins, I’ve been able to simulate that functionality reliably.
