Fingerprint unlock

Set up the lock, pin, fingerprint last Friday. Yesterday when I tried to unlock it, the fingerprints failed [two of them]. I went to the app to check the settings and I received these errors.

  1. it timed out with 'Fingerprint registration failed."
  2. it timed out with “Admin login timeout”

I tried it an hour later and the fingerprint worked to open the door and I was able to get to the settings.


I have a similar issue with fingerprint unlock.

I have three people registered on this lock. Two of the three people successfully registered fingerprints to the lock. The third person was able to register the fingerprint, but cannot unlock the lock with fingerprint because it never detects the finger.

Person 1: Male (me), middle aged.

  • Performed fingerprint registration process in app for two fingers, (right thumb and left thumb).
  • Fingers were always detected during the registration process. Never received fingerprint registration failures.
  • Able to unlock 100% of the time with both thumbs

Person 2: Male, 72 years old.

  • Performed fingerprint registration process in app for two fingers, (right thumb and left thumb).
  • Fingers were always detected during the registration process. Never received fingerprint registration failures.
  • Able to unlock with right thumb 25% of the time. Able to unlock with left thumb 100% of the time. I think this related to rough/dry skin on this right thumb.

Person 3: Female, 68 years old.

  • Performed fingerprint registration process in app for two fingers, (right thumb and left thumb).
  • Fingers were always detected during the registration process. Never received fingerprint registration failures.
  • She is unable to unlock with right thumb 100% of the time. She is unable to with unlock left thumb 100% of the time. The registration process always detected her fingerprint. however, the fingerprint scanner never detects her finger after the registration process. (The green light doesn’t light to show fingerprint accepted, and the red light doesn’t light up to show that the finger print is rejected. It doesn’t detect her finger at all).

Observation:
I noticed last night that the temperature of a user’s finger affects the fingerprint sensor. My finger was cold last night and the finger print scanner did not detect my finger; (no red or green light to indicate finger was scanned). I blew my hot breath over the fingerprint scanner and then tried again with success. I repeated this test and the result was that cold finger against the scanner resulted in the lock not detecting fingerprint scanner. A warm fingerprint scanner was able to detect my finger 100% of the time.

It’s possible that the older female has a lower body temperature and that the lock doesn’t detect her thumb as a result. Is there a fingerprint scanner sensitivity option somewhere to fix this?

I am having a similar issue - I try to add fingerprints to the app, and I get a fingerprint registration failed. I’ve tried on 2 different phones with the same user ID and passcode and invited guests with two different phones. I get the same error each time Administrator login failed.(-5) then it switches to Admin login timeout.

I am having similar issue - no problem with registering finger print, but unlocking with fingerprint does not work. This seems like a common issue with UTec have not been able to resolve. UTec, please advise if this is a known issue, and what can be done about it. This problem started less than 2 years after installation which is simply not good enough and I will no longer be recommending this lock to others.

U-tec wifi Pro! I had no difficulty registering two fingerprints, but the successful lock opening with my finger is so uncommon I can’t give an accurate percentage but I’ll guess 5 to 10% tops. It and Zwave Ring alarm compatibility is the only reason I bought this lock. Now that I have neither working it now has me only disappointed and upset.

Fingerprint unlock had worked once for my locks across multiple fingers, multiple people, multiple locks and hundreds of hopeful tries. Z-wave functionality never worked and after the latest update didn’t even pair. These are very, very expensive code locks. So disappointing.

In my case the success rate for the fingerprint reader is about 25%. I contacted U-Tec and they sent me a new device. No luck still about 25% success rate on reading fingerprints.

I have followed all the instructional videos carefully, fingerprints are always successfully registered, fingers are clean and dry, but reading the fingerprint is very unreliable.

It is my opinion that the fingerprint reader is not ready for prime time. This feature was the primary reasion I choose this product and I am disappointed it does not work.

If anyone has had a similar problem and resolved it please let me know

Same situation here. I installed my U-Bolt Pro Wifi a couple of days ago, but it seems to lose its mind. I reset it twice to fix that, and I’m at the point where my fingerprint is recognized maybe 10-15 percent of the time. The sole reason I bought this was for the fingerprint feature. If I’m down to using the app and using a code, I have a Schlage unit here I bought for “just in case” and will switch to in a heartbeat.
