Fingerprint unlock

Set up the lock, pin, fingerprint last Friday. Yesterday when I tried to unlock it, the fingerprints failed [two of them]. I went to the app to check the settings and I received these errors.

  1. it timed out with 'Fingerprint registration failed."
  2. it timed out with “Admin login timeout”

I tried it an hour later and the fingerprint worked to open the door and I was able to get to the settings.


I have a similar issue with fingerprint unlock.

I have three people registered on this lock. Two of the three people successfully registered fingerprints to the lock. The third person was able to register the fingerprint, but cannot unlock the lock with fingerprint because it never detects the finger.

Person 1: Male (me), middle aged.

  • Performed fingerprint registration process in app for two fingers, (right thumb and left thumb).
  • Fingers were always detected during the registration process. Never received fingerprint registration failures.
  • Able to unlock 100% of the time with both thumbs

Person 2: Male, 72 years old.

  • Performed fingerprint registration process in app for two fingers, (right thumb and left thumb).
  • Fingers were always detected during the registration process. Never received fingerprint registration failures.
  • Able to unlock with right thumb 25% of the time. Able to unlock with left thumb 100% of the time. I think this related to rough/dry skin on this right thumb.

Person 3: Female, 68 years old.

  • Performed fingerprint registration process in app for two fingers, (right thumb and left thumb).
  • Fingers were always detected during the registration process. Never received fingerprint registration failures.
  • She is unable to unlock with right thumb 100% of the time. She is unable to with unlock left thumb 100% of the time. The registration process always detected her fingerprint. however, the fingerprint scanner never detects her finger after the registration process. (The green light doesn’t light to show fingerprint accepted, and the red light doesn’t light up to show that the finger print is rejected. It doesn’t detect her finger at all).

Observation:
I noticed last night that the temperature of a user’s finger affects the fingerprint sensor. My finger was cold last night and the finger print scanner did not detect my finger; (no red or green light to indicate finger was scanned). I blew my hot breath over the fingerprint scanner and then tried again with success. I repeated this test and the result was that cold finger against the scanner resulted in the lock not detecting fingerprint scanner. A warm fingerprint scanner was able to detect my finger 100% of the time.

It’s possible that the older female has a lower body temperature and that the lock doesn’t detect her thumb as a result. Is there a fingerprint scanner sensitivity option somewhere to fix this?
