Bolt fingerprint installed facing the sun in afternoon

I have a number of bolt fingerprints, they all work fine, except in the afternoon, the one with the front of the lock facing the sun, the fingerprint sensor can’t be used. It doesn’t even detect the finger. the keypad works fine during that time. The outdoor temp is around 85F but in the sun the black fingerprint sensor temp is recording a temp of 139F. I notified U-tec of this issue, but I am not sure the person I spoke to understood the problem I was getting at. The lock consistently works fine with fingerprint in the mornings or evening until after midday, let’s say around 2pm. But repeatedly (tested over several days) will not work in the afternoon. I disassembled the lock and reinstalled the cable to make sure it was tight in the connector, which it is. I think the lock may need a flip cover to protect the sensor in environments where the lock is directly facing the sun on moderately warm days.
