Latch 5 Fingerprint - Opening Downwards keeps it open but opening Upwards closes it as normal

I managed to successfully install this lock and I just have this one issue -
from the inside, if I open the latch upwards and release it (by just taking my hand off), the latch goes back to the original horizontal position and the lock closes normally as expected.

However, if I open the latch downwards and release it (by taking my hand off), the latch stays in that position and the door does not close either.

Is this a bug or a feature? If it is a feature, I would rather reverse how it works (switch up and down). Is there a way to reverse it?

Was there a solution to this problem? I have a latch 5 with a handle that won’t stay in horizontal position, drops to about 45 degrees.
