That would not be as secure because in theory one could just keep hitting random numbers until the correct sequence was pressed. Then the lock would open. Having an enter key means you have to get it right and then the enter button clears the code after it unlocks.
I agree with you that a user should be able to just enter the code and when they press the last button, the lock disengages.
@Taninbaum I can understand your concern about security, But with the proper implementation, the feature @Minato and I are requesting Would put the onus on us to ensure we have a strong and long keycode.
The important thing to understand here is there are many other smartlocks and brands that people are used to, which have this feature of automatically opening when the last digit is pressed. We have other smart locks that respond this way, when you type the last digit, the lock opens up
We also have vacation rental properties and I should not have to send instructions to my guess on how to unlock the door! If they press the code and when they hit the last digit, they hear the lock opening up, there is no extra instruction or tutorial that I need to give them!
As a host, my goal is to make a guest user experience as seamless and smooth as possible.
We have had countless guests text us to ask how to open the deadbolt lock! I think this is crazy! Some end up figuring it out.
Our FL Property has a Schlage keypad and it automatically opens when you press the last digit.
Our primary residence has a Kwikset It automatically unlocks when you press the last digit.
A simple solution to @Taninbaum, Security concern would be to simply add A feature that allows property owners to choose between these two options…
Unlock Action:
- Press Unlock Button - User must enter their entry code, then press the Ultraloq button, to unlock.
- Auto-Unlock - User must enter their entry code and the lock opens automatically after the enter the last digit is pressed.
There may be some things I don’t understand About implementing a simple feature like this, but it seems like it should be a pretty straightforward and quick implementation to launch this extra feature in the app.
