U-bolt Pro Wifi keypad is dead

My final update on this topic, I received the replacement fingerprint keypad exterior unit with connection cable and replaced mine that had the cut cables. The lock now works perfectly again. To protect against the cables being cut again, I added electrical tape around the last 1/2" of the exposed cables that connect to the exterior unit and I added a strip of Sugru along the sharp metal edge of the hinge unit which I suspect is what cut the wires in the first place. It still opens and closes smoothly. In retrospect I could have just used Sugru on both the hinge and the wires but this way works just as well. As most people only use the key as a backup/emergency they probably wont encounter this issue but since my home still uses the key often Iā€™m glad we figured it out. Hope it helps someone else.

3 month old lock that I love all of a sudden has no power. Pad doesnā€™t work. Lights donā€™t light up . Wonā€™t connect to app. Itā€™s a manual deadbolt now. Only thing that works is connectivity to bridge. I sent email to support. I need help resolving or replacement? Is there an answer for this?

@Frease Please check the ticket 121184 our team replied.

2 days after installing it, my ubolt pro doesnt work anymore. The whole keypad is dead. I so regret getting this lock! :weary:

Well, Iā€™ll add my report that we are also having this issue. For us this is intermittent so we are monitoring the situation and will report back. It would be helpful if the u-tec support people would post what to try rather than just referring people to individual support ticket responses. That would help us trouble shoot.

Iā€™m having exactly the same issue. Fingerprint reader has been useless since a few months back now. Opened a ticket with support, sent pictures and everything youā€™d asked me for just to get the answer that I need to buy another one b/c warranty expired. Yeah right! The heck Iā€™m going to waste more money in another expensive unit to cicle back with same issues.

I feel your pain. I have the same issue

I have the same issue, and reading this forum makes me think that I should throw it out and go with a company that actually replied to their emails.
Iā€™m really sick of this.

Same issue here - app controls lock/unlock functions, but keypad is dead. No help in this forum from the mfr other than individual comments regarding support tickets. Cā€™mon u-tec, Post a general response to any comment and help the hundreds of users that obviously have the exact identical issue. Obviously a faulty wiring design, not enough protection to prevent the damage reported by several users who discovered the problem on their own. U-etc needs to resolve this. The only logical solution for me is to find a better mfr.

@Berglund We are so sorry for this inconvenience caused for you. As the app controls the lock with no issue, it means the Interior Portion of the lock is not defective, but the Exterior Portion of the lock might be defective. Please disconnect and re-connect the connector between the Interior & Exterior Portions and carefully check whether the wire got cut or damaged. If this doesnā€™t help to resolve the keypad issue, please click here to submit a ticket to request a replacement part under warranty.

My Ultraloq is doing the same thing after this battery replacement. This is the 4th battery replacement.

Hi Eli,

I did some more trouble shooting with the U-Bolt Pro WiFi Bridge, as follows:

  1. I reset the lock manually, removed the batteries and unplugged the bridge.
  2. I removed the U-Bolt from the U-Home App. The U-Bolt Pro should have been in the same condition as it was when I received it 2 years ago.
  3. Next, I inserted the batteries and plugged in the bridge.
  4. I used the U-Home app to search for the lock (Bluetooth) and added the lock and provided an Admin code. The lock locked and unlocked from the App via Bluetooth.
  5. I selected find the bridge and pushed the button on the bridge. Then I added the WiFi password. It connected to the bridge. I can now operate the lock over WiFi via the bridge.
  6. Next I added my fingerprint to the lock.

Now I can lock and unlock the U-Bolt using the U=Home APP. I turned off ā€œAuto-Lockā€ and turned on Geofencing.

The keypad is still dead. There are no lights and no beeps when I touch the 1-0 keys or the ā€œUltraLoqā€ key. I must use the APP or the key to lock it.

When I touch the fingerprint reader, the lock beeps, the red ring lights up and the lock opens.

The only way to lock/unlock the phone is via the U-Home APP or the key. This works for me, but not for my guests or the cleaning crew. They need codes.

Sally had indicated (email below) that U-Tec would offer me a 30% discount toward the purchase of a new UltraLoq from the U-Tec Store. I want to purchase a new U-Bolt Pro WiFi Bridge. The list price in the U-Tec Store is $179.99 before the 30% discount. We need to receive this new lock no later than mid next week (June 5 or 6).

What do I need to do to complete the order with the 30% discount?

Thanks.
