As an app that provides access into homes, the app should take advantage of all the security features built into devices. Fingerprint and/or facial verification should be available as an option to enable when first opening and reopening the app.

Agree. The app is the weak link. Other door lock management apps such as MyQ require a lock pin/biometric to unlock the lock/open the door. This app is missing that and should have it. As the OP says, it could be on app opening or better, to allow bluetooth to act on the lock or remote unlock.
